We are dedicated to the support and promotion of recreational, natural, educational, historical, and interpretive activities within Maybury State Park.

Friends of Maybury State Park is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of the beautiful Maybury State Park.  We exist to promote, preserve, & enjoy our wonderful state park system in general, and Maybury State Park in particular.  We proudly join others in that pursuit (see "Related Links" page).

 

Maybury State Park is located in Northville Twp, Michigan, south of 8 Mile Road between Beck and Napier Roads.  It consists of nearly 1000 acres of gently rolling terrain, mature woodlands, and open meadows.  Activities include:

 

  • Horseback riding (horses available at the Riding Stable off the Beck Road entrance) - $25/hr
  • Pony rides (helmets provided)  - $5/ride
  • Playground  
  • 8 miles of hiking trails (including a new History Trail, ETA September 30th '06)
  • Paved bicycle paths
  • Challenging mountain-bike trails
  • Family or corporate picnics
  • Fishing at the pond
  • Cross-country skiing in the winter
  • Summer Park Explorer programs (call for details)
  • Maybury Farm

 

The Maybury Farm was originally used to raise food for the William H. Maybury Sanatorium.  The farm, and its classroom building, give visitors a chance to experience a working farm from the early 1900's.  In 2003, it suffered a tragic barn fire.  The barn has recently reopened and is being managed by the Northville Community Foundation.

 

In addition, Maybury has:

  • Picnic shelters
  • A day camp facility

 

Contact the park at 248-349-8390 to rent one of several picnic shelters or the day camp facility. Picnic shelter rental rates range from $135-$150 per shelter.
