Spring Beauty All Around
There is beauty along the trails at Maybury State Park right now. But you’ll have to stop and look closely and quickly to truly appreciate the variety of plants that are in bloom. Named because their time is so fleeting, Ephemerals are the first Spring flowers to emerge at this time each year. Once the trees leaf out, their time is done. Their timing is perfectly aligned to feed early-emerging pollinators, like flies, beetles, ants, and bees.
Download a copy of our Spring Wildflower Guide (PDF) which shows the different types of Spring wildflowers that have been seen at Maybury State Park.
Below are a few photos from this year’s Wildflower Walks.
A big thanks to everyone who came out for the walks (especially those who showed up in the rain on Friday morning!), our volunteers who helped lead and sweep the hikes, and the Friends of Maybury State Park for organizing and managing the event.
